Annual General Meeting/Orientation 2010

This is the start to exciting times – getting to know more about Japanese culture and making new like-minded friends!

Join us at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) to find out more about us and our activities! We will brief you on upcoming events, how our club works, and introduce the people running the club.

Follow up by participating in our Orientation where games galore await you! For an overnight bonding experience, sign up for the overnighter and mingle with the new and current members as night falls. Our three sub-committees will also be giving demonstrations in their specialised areas.

Any friends of yours who missed out on our previous recruitment events will also be able to join in the fun by signing up as a member at the AGM. Past members can renew their membership here as well.

Venue: LT 15 (IT School, 1st floor)

Attendance for the Annual General Meeting is compulsory for all members.

For our Orientation:

Date: Friday, 14 May 2010 to Saturday, 15 May 2010
Time: After AGM till late (Friday); 8am to 7pm (Saturday)
Venue: LT 15 (IT School, 1st floor)

We’ll be expecting you, so come and have fun with us! SEAL points will be awarded for participation!

If you’re interested in attending the Orientation but did not sign up during registration, please email comm@tpjcg.org with your name and matric number. Also, if you have any friends who have registered for TPJCG, but don’t know of this event, please tell them as well!

BANZAI!! 2010 – A Japanese Culture Bazaar

We’re going to have our main membership intake in our very own bazaar: BANZAI!! If you haven’t signed up at our booth over the past week, here’s yet another chance for you to do so!

You can also check out the anime handpicked by our Anime/Manga sub-committee, play some traditional games with our Arts & Entertainment sub-committee, or partake in our Cuisine sub-committee’s very own takoyaki. We’ll also be selling plenty of goods!

Date: Wednesday, 5 May 2010 and Thursday, 6 May 2010
Time: 9am to 6pm
Venue: TP Concourse (just outside the Library)

Existing members: Please bring your membership card and $5 for renewal.
New members: Please bring $15 for registration.

JAS Ikebana Exhibition 2010

Hey Everyone!

Every year, the Flower Arrangement Club of the Japanese Association, Singapore holds an Ikebana (flower arrangement) exhibition. This exhibition will feature fresh flower arrangements from three of the Ikebana schools/styles: Ikenobo, Sougetsu and Manako.

Date: Friday, 21 May 2010 and Saturday, 22 May 2010
Time: 10am to 6pm (Friday); 10am to 5pm (Saturday)
Venue: The Japanese Association, Singapore (120 Adam Road), Ballroom, 2nd floor
Admission: Free (ticket required for admission); $1 each for shuttle bus to/from JAS

We’ll be meeting up for the Saturday exhibition at 12 noon, Orchard MRT. However, if you are unable to make it, you can still email in, collect your tickets on either Thursday or Friday (at designated collection times), and go at your own time.

If you are interested, please send your name, admission number, contact number, school, year of study, and number of tickets to tricia.teo@tpjcg.org. SEAL points will be awarded to all JCG members and non-members for participation. These tickets are given on first-come, first-served basis, so get them while they last!

Drawing Sessions (May)

Hi all,

Interested in drawing in the style of Japanese animation? Well join us for our drawing sessions in the month of May. They will be fun and relaxing evenings for artists of any level, with lots of opportunity to draw, share tips, make friends, chill out and have fun.

Day: Mondays (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st May)
Time: 6pm to 8pm
Venue: LT 15 (Applied Science)

Admission to drawing sessions is free. If you’re feeling shy, feel free to ask a friend or two along!
