Ai Japanese Restaurant Outing

As the academic year ends, we will be organising a restaurant dinner outing to Ai Japanese Restaurant to welcome the vacation.

Situated at Robertson Quay, this newly opened restaurant has been given several thumbs-up reviews by local Japanese publications for their quality food at affordable prices.

Meeting Venue: Clarke Quay MRT Station Control Station
Date: Friday, March 10 2006
Time: 6pm
Price: $20 (includes free flow of green tea)*

*Additional payment required for soft drinks and liquor.

Members will be able to choose their main course (soba, udon, rice), while side dishes are carefully selected by the chef. They will be able to enjoy their food in the privacy of a room and not have to worry about expensive bills. The whole dinner is valued at $30 per person.

To celebrate TPJCG’s fifth year, our alumni will be sponsoring $10 per student member. In other words, participation fees will be $20 per student.

Japanese Language Camp

Dear members:

JCG will be having a Japanese Language Camp between 21-23 September 2005. If you’re interested in Japanese Language, come and join us on either session:

Morning session - Introduction to Japanese (no pre-requisite)
$15/- for three days

Afternoon session - Prepartory lesson for JLPT 3 and 4 Listening Skills
$5 per day

For both courses, materials are provided.

Hi everyone:

As the new term starts, we are also drawing closer to the 5th Annual General Meeting/Recruitment Drive for TPJCG.

As partof the event, we are requesting for donations of memories - no, not money but photos, pictures, videos that you have taken in events organised by JCGor those which you have participated alongside with JCG (eg. natsumatsuri,Autumn Tea Ceremony @ Urasenke, etc)

So if you do have any of these items, even it is just one picture, do send them to us. After all, a picture says a thousand words :)

Registration for Backpack Japan 2005

Besides having a 1 week homestay, the group will be spending a few days to explore Japan backpack style. Actual schedule will be discussed and decided by the participants.

As the project team needs to contact other organisation for arrangements like homestay, airfare, etc which all takes at least amonth or two, it is best that students send in their application by 02 APRIL 2005.

NOTE: BACKPACK JAPAN 2005 is a project by student/alumni members of JCG. The trip however, will be conducted on PERSONAL grounds and NOTUNDER JCG or TEMASEK POLYTECHNIC.

From Alumnis to the Members

Hito all JCG student members:

It’s going to be 2005 and for the pastyear, it had been a great time working with the committee, both main comm and subcomm (Arts and Entertainment, Cuisine, Anime and Manga).

It was a great success too to see all of JCG members taking part in our activities actively. From a small group of 20-30 to the current strength over 100students attending our recruitment drive in the past six months has been agreat encouragement to all of us in committees of Japanese Cultural Group.

For all the hard work and participation in 2004 - A big thank you.

On behalf of the Alumni helpers in JCG, I would like to wish JCG committees and student a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
