Annual General Meeting/Orientation 2007

It’s been a hectic term test week for most of us. It also means that the upcoming break is an excuse for us to have some fun together!

We’re going to conduct our Annual General Meeting, where we brief all new and renewing members on issues such as what the club does, who the people behind the club are, the major events for the year and how to join a sub-committee. Most of you may also have questions to ask, so this would be the best time to do so.

During this period, you’ll also be able to come and collect your membership cards or register for club membership as well! If you have any other friends interested in joining, do ask them to drop by and join us!

After our Annual General Meeting, we’ll be having an orientation for our members to get to know each other, play games and have fun.

There will be water games, so please bring an extra shirt. Girls are highly encouraged to wear dark-coloured shirts.

Date: Tuesday, 19 June 2007
Time: 10am to 6pm
Venue: LT 15 (IT 1st floor)

We’ll be expecting you, so come and have fun with us! Whether you’re attending or not, please email Lucas at lucas@tpjcg.org with your name and contact number. If there are any friends who have registered for TPJCG, but don’t know of this event, please tell them as well!

BANZAI!! PLAYSTATION 3 Gaming Competition

For the first time ever, we’ll be organising our very own gaming competition at BANZAI!! A Japanese Culture Bazaar. But that’s not all - we’ll be starting it off with a bang, with a competition being held on the newly-released PLAYSTATION 3.

We’ll be playing Resistance: Fall of Man, a first-person shooter and one of the most popular titles released on the PS3 to date. Taking place in an alternate post-World War II era, the game features humans driving out a mysterious alien invasion from Britain.

Thanks to Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong, you’ll also be able to win exclusive PS3 premiums and games.

Date: Thursday, 10 May 2007 and Friday, 11 May 2007
Time: 5pm to 8pm
Venue: LT 25 (Design school, 1st floor, near the lift)
Admission: Free

A match will be held once every 15 minutes and the winner of the random matchup will walk off with a prize.

From 3pm to 5pm, we’ll be having practice matches and free play for all those interested in checking out the capabilities of the PS3. For those who are unable to make it for our practice sessions and are unfamiliar with playing first-person shooters, rest assured we’ll still explain the game mechanics and controls once again before the match itself.

Great game, great console, and great prizes to be won - it’s something not to be missed. See you there!

BANZAI!! - A Japanese Culture Bazaar

The biggest TPJCG event every year, we’re going to have our main membership intake in our very own bazaar: BANZAI!!

Check out the cosplay and console gaming by our Anime/Manga sub-committee, play Japanese games with our Arts and Entertainment sub-committee, or partake in our Cuisine sub-committee’s very own takoyaki and drinks.

There’ll also be chances to take photos in yukatas - traditional Japanese summer festival wear.

Apart from a wide collection of second-hand items sold at great prices, we’ll also be selling products from companies like Chuang Yi, Odex, and J-Haven at special student prices far below what you can find in stores.

Date: Thursday, 10 May 2007 and Friday, 11 May 2007
Time: 3pm to 8pm
Venue: Outside LT 25 (Design school, 1st floor, near the lift)

Existing members: Please bring your membership card and $5 for renewal.
New members: Please bring $10 for registration.

At our registration booths, we’ll also be taking in new/current members who wish to be a part of the sub-committees. Apart from organising events to earn SEAL (CCA) points and getting to know your fellow members better, you’ll also benefit from experience that would definitely be useful in your lives and careers.

Should you have any enquiries on any of our events or about registration, please email comm@tpjcg.org and we’ll get back to you.

See you there!

Recruitment Drive ‘07/08

It’s time for recruitment again! With our 7th year, we’ve decided to do something different for a change.

We’re conducting a recruitment drive with a series of pre-registration events for people who can’t wait to jump into the fray and to keep the queues short. If you’re interested in registering, do check out our booth at the Concourse near the Library.

Date: Monday, 30 April 2007 to Friday, 4 May 2007
Time: 11pm to 5pm
Venue: TP Concourse (just outside the Library)

Existing members: Please bring your membership card and $5 for renewal.
New members: Please bring $10 for registration.

Please note that as 1 May is Labour Day and a public holiday, there would be no registration conducted on that day. And if you’re unable to make it on any of these days, we’ll be having our main membership intake during our very own bazaar - coming soon!

Should you have any enquiries about registration, please email comm@tpjcg.org and we’ll get back to you.

See you there!
