Wagashi Day

Doraemon? Soybean powder? Green tea!

Greetings, everyone!

For the month of September, we are bringing back to you our annual Wagashi Day event! “Wagashi” refers to traditional Japanese confectionery, and is often served with green tea as its sweetness is said to neutralize the bitter taste of tea. And so, we will be teaching two types of Wagashi, namely Dorayaki and Abekawa Mochi, and some traditional Japanese tea!

Abekawa Mochi is basically mochi (Japanese rice cakes), dusted with a light coating of sweetened kinako (soybean powder) and served with some sweet azuki bean paste (red bean paste). Dorayaki, well-known from the Japanese anime “Doraemon”, is another traditional Japanese confectionery, consisting of two small pancake-like patties, with sweet azuki bean paste filling.

Accompanying the Japanese sweets, there will be a Japanese tea demonstration. Learn how to prepare the famous matcha (powdered tea) and get an insight on tea culture in Japan.

We are specially inviting you to come down and join us for this unique event to fuel your knowledge about Japanese food and culture!

Don’t miss this opportunity! Join our Wagashi Day event! Vacancies are very limited for this special event!
