Traditional Games Session

Hi!

Looking for some fun during the holidays? We have come up with traditional Japanese games for you to play and learn! Games such as Fruit Basket, Karuta and Shiritori will be played.

So come down and join us! Lots of prizes to be won! Participants will also get SEAL points!

Wagashi Day

Two of our sub-committees are having a joint event! Wagashi Day is our very own way of introducing the tradition of eating confectionary sweets (wagashi) while drinking tea!

Not only will you be able to enjoy tea with sweets, our Cuisine sub-committee will teach you how to make the sweets and explore your creativity! Then, enjoy a short cultural sharing by our Arts & Entertainment sub-committee about the history and culture of tea ceremonies, and how wagashi came about, while you sip your tea!

Time: 10am to 11.30am, 12 noon to 1.30pm (limited to 8 participants per session!)
Venue: IT5-5-15
Admission: $6 (members); $8 (non-members)

Origami (Paper Craft) Learning Session

Unsure of how to use your leftover paper for better purposes? Or do you just want to use the nice origami paper you have better? Come down and learn from us some of the useful things you can do with all those paper! Learn how to fold fancy paper vases, plates and bags!

JAS Ikebana Exhibition 2007

Hi all!

Every year, the Flower Arrangement Club of the Japanese Association, Singapore holds an Ikebana (flower arrangement) exhibition. This exhibition will feature fresh flower arrangements from three of the Ikebana schools/styles: Ikenobo, Sougetsu and Manako.

Date: Friday, 25 May 2007 and Saturday, 26 May 2007
Time: 10am to 6pm (Friday); 10am to 5pm (Saturday)
Venue: The Japanese Association, Singapore (120 Adam Road), Ballroom, 2nd floor
Admission: Free (ticket required for admission); $1 each for shuttle bus to/from JAS

We’ll be meeting up for the Saturday exhibition at 12 noon, Orchard MRT. However, if you are unable to make it, you can still email in, collect your tickets on either Thursday or Friday (at designated collection times), and go at your own time.

Origami Learning Session

The Arts and Entertainment Sub-committee is bringing you the Origami session for the month of March!

Come join us to learn how to make Origami, not those that are just only for ornaments, but also an origami that you can use!
