Today, I am going to share with you guys the other 2 mountains that I promised you guys on my last FTWs. I am going to do a short summarised on what it was about.
Dewa Sanzan(“3 mountains of Dewa”) are scared mountains in Yamagata Prefecture, each with a shrine near its peak. Previously, I talk about Haguro-San, which represent “Birth”. The other 2 mountains will be:
Gas-San, which represent “Death”, is the highest of the three mountains of Dewa Sanzan. 1984 meters above sea level, lies its mountaintop shrine. Majority of the year, it is closed due to heavy snowfall and the best time to visit it will be during summer. Gas-San is usually visited by pilgrims after Haguro-San.

Yudono-San, which represent “Re-Birth”. The shrine is consider to be the most sacred that no is allowed to talk nor hear of what happens inside the shrine. It is also relatively easy to access which is only 200 meters from the parking lot. A more traditional approach will be a steep descent via a hiking trail from the summit of Gas-San.
